Thank You For Clapping

Café Zapata, Berlin (D), 18 November 2004

What a gig. David Eugene Edwards was in good spirits, loose and playful, the playing was simply excellent, and people were extremely responsive. David commented on how he liked the city (‘too cool for me though!’) and the German word ‘Schmetterling’ (butterfly).

But the concert didn’t come without its challenges: within a couple of minutes, a cable got loose and muted the guitar, then a string broke and David had to change it - but those technical difficulties didn’t deter them from playing a monster of a concert. (Don’t they have a stage manager?).

An extremely long concert by DEE’s standards – a full 100 minutes. As a surprise, we got “Oil On Panel” and a solo version of “Golden Rope”. There was already music coming over the PA but David & Ordy Garrison decided to come back a second time for an old favorite, “The Good Hand”.
