David Eugene Edwards had brought along only one accompanist too which meant that the songs of his band 16 Horsepower were presented to us in a nice but certainly not essential acoustic way. It is true that the pious singer has the disposal of a weeping voice and moreover he interlarded his songs Sunday night with primitive ominously hollow drumming from a box. Nevertheless the tempestuous hell and damnation which rage through the band-albums were missing.
