Thank You For Clapping

Gothic Theatre
Denver, CO (USA), 28 October 2003

As if there weren't enough other legitimate reasons to flee this country now... The upcoming 16hp European tour is just icing on my proverbial American cake.

All of you who reside on the Europa side of the pond are in for a blazing tour. Envy abound. Since I wrote about last night's mini-gig, I figured I'd at least follow through with a very brief synopsis of tonight's show at the Gothic in Denver...

Let's just say the three boys were "ON" tonight. And to provide a hint of the flavour of the show (and upcoming tour), let's just say that "Olden" is a good clue. This tour will certainly be food for the soul for the long-time 16hp flock. Opening the show with Strong Man. Enough said. Throw in South Pennsylvania Waltz... Straight-Mouth Stomp... Dead Run... Slow Guilt Trot... Harm's Way... etcetera. You get the point. Virtually all material from the "early days"...whatever that means. Nothing from Folklore. Nothing from Secret South (if I'm not mistaken).

Other observations... Very big crowd tonight. David's return of "longer" hair was reminiscent of the mid-90's shows, when his flying hair added extra emphasis to his freakish head movements. His witnessing of a pedestrian being hit (and killed) by a car while en route to the show added yet another dark dimension... He opened with a few comments about this... and it was legit...My friends also saw it happen. Darkening the darkness. Too Dark Park.

If I offended any of you on States-side with my opening comments. I personally apologize....but I don't regret speaking. Just opining my opinion...
