KulturBolaget, Malmö (S)
Copyright Aftonbladet 2000 Tonight is another great show. The venue is bigger than yesterday but it's still crowded. The setlist is the same and once again it seems to go down really well. The crowd is as enthusiastic as last night; the biggest difference being that this stage is about a meter high and consequently the band is not as close to the audience as at Loppen yesterday. The sound is really great tonight (it was good yesterday, but even better today), and the Swedish radioprogram P3 Live is present recording the show. Some short notes on the set: It's obvious that Praying Arm Lane is one of the favourite songs of the new album to many Swedes. Already the first note gets a great response. Obviously more popular here than in Denmark, judging by the crowd. After Splinters comes David's regular phrase:"Thank You For Clapping" which is followed by laughter and some more clapping from the crowd. This leads David into inventing a follow-up phrase. "You don't have to, I was talking about the clapping before". This is followed by more laughter. Tonight I pay more attention to the guitarplaying of Steve Taylor. I'm surprised at how great he is, at least this evening. No goth. No heavy metal. More like punk. Or postmodern blues. It sounds as coming equally out of the wilderness of the old west or the neonclad concrete of the urban metropolis. It reminds me a bit of a young Blixa Bargeld (his solo on the Bad Seeds' From Her To Eternity is a good reference point). Burning Bush seems to go down less well today judging by the crowd. I love it though. And it seems to be a very important song to David. At least he's at his theatrical best during this song. Articulating at us intensely and making all those gestures all the time. Black Soul Choir is again welcomed by the biggest cheer of the day. By Patrik.
