The Lighthouse in the Desert

Rolling Stone review of Woven Hand show

... Gelb sings "Wayfaring Stranger" like the lighthouse keeper of the desert and says goodnight with a swing-improvisation. The "Stranger-song" is performed again, in the Stadsschouwburg, a cappella, sung to the stucco ceiling by 16 Horsepower singer David Eugene Edwards. The present-day break of the band allows him time for Woven Hand, a duo with his friend Daniel McMahon that plays live for only the second time at all, and performs some 16 Horsepower songs in a way that many people prefer to hear them: without horsepower, fragile, close to the heart of the matter. Edwards' new songs sound even more spiritual and float where there are no boundary stones.
A magic finale.
