Woven Hand

Not 100% sold-out, but still a packed Hedon welcomed the 4 Woven Hand members. 70 minutes of pure entertainment including a sort of hymn which David Eugene Edwards performed holding a musical instrument to the heaven's above and a new version of Phyllis Ann (the lost twin sister of Phyllis Ruth -16hp) for which he needed a crib, a note. An impressive performance, especially considering the fact that they did obviously suffer from jet-lag.

First things first: David has an enormous Zappa-like moustache... :-)
They played every song on the album plus four new (?) songs. The opening was 'My Russia' and it was immediately clear that they were not worried about the volume or anything. I've seen David and Daniel play at Crossing Border and this was really something else. The cello player and the very very good drummer were really getting into it; It made it feel more like a 16hp-show.

After a few songs without any comment they played a none-album track. After the song David said: "That song was about my tractor" (laughs) "cuz' my tractor is the king of tractors" (more laughs).
After a few songs David played a new song on the pump-organ, after the song he said "that song is about a tractor as well....." .
Then they walked off stage. David came back alone and played a song on banjo which was a special version of 'Phyllis Ruth' (called Phyllis Ann) in which he constantly referred to 'the chill of coffeeville'. After that they played a traditional christian song (I think) in which the chorus goes 'and I love my lord Jesus above everything' - goosebumps.

It was a great show... I can only say that DEE is the most devoted and intense musician I have ever seen and ever will see in my life.
